Ram Rahim Rape Case Verdict Live News Update: The Special CBI court in Panchkula is expected to pronounce the verdict today in a 15-year-old rape case against Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insaan. The hearing on the same will begin hearing at 11:30 AM, however, the controversial godman is scheduled to appear before court in person by 2:30 PM.On Thursday night, paramilitary troopers took out the flag march in Sirsa ahead of the rape case verdict. The district administration said that curfew has been imposed in Sirsa city and three villages – Bajekan, Nejiyakhera and Shahpur Begu – adjoining the Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters from 10 p.m. on Thursday, till further orders. Around 53 companies of paramilitary forces and 50,000 personnel of Haryana Police have also been deployed. In addition, the army has also been alerted.

Earlier on Thursday night, Dera Sacha Sauda chief, on Thursday through a video message, asked his supporters, who have been camping in Panchkula, to return to their homes and maintain peace. “I appeal to everyone to maintain peace. I had earlier also asked the Dera followers, who have gone to Panchkula, to return to their home. I will go to court.We all should respect the law and maintain peace,” he said in the video message.

Meanwhile, the internet and mobile phone services have been suspended for 72 hours in Punjab, Haryana and Union Territory Chandigarh to prevent any untoward incident. A prohibitory order under section 144 has also been imposed in Panchkula and Chandigarh has already been declared sensitive as thousands of Dera followers have gathered in the city ahead of the verdict. Around 22 trains have been canceled and bus service has been stopped in large parts of Punjab and Haryana. Meanwhile, the Chandigarh Police, in a stern message, had warned Dera Sacha Sauda followers of strict action if they try to enter forcefully in the Union Territory.
